Yve Terms of Service

Effective date: 2026-05-17 Last updated: 2026-05-17

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Yve ("Yve", "we", "us"), a calm AI learning workspace. By creating an account or using Yve, you agree to these Terms.

Plain-English summary. Yve is a study tool — use it to learn, not to cheat. We do our best to be accurate but AI can be wrong; double-check anything that matters. Pay your subscription if you have one; we'll refund pro-rata if we screw something up. Don't try to break the service.

1. Who can use Yve

You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU/UK) to use Yve. If you're under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you confirm your parent or guardian has agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

You must use a valid email address you control. One account per person. Don't share your account credentials.

2. What Yve does (and doesn't promise)

Yve helps you study by:

Yve uses third-party AI models (currently from Anthropic, with embeddings from Voyage AI). AI output is not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or appropriate for your situation. Always verify with your instructor, textbook, or other authoritative source — especially for clinical, legal, financial, or medical content.

Yve is a study aid, not a credential and not professional advice. Nothing Yve produces should be relied on for clinical decision-making, medication dosing, legal interpretation, or as a substitute for a licensed professional.

3. Acceptable use

Use Yve to study and to support your own learning. Do not:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

4. Your content

You own the materials you upload, the chats you write, and the subjects you organize ("Your Content"). You grant Yve a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display Your Content for the purpose of providing the service to you (including sending relevant snippets to our AI providers so Yve can respond).

You're responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload Your Content. Don't upload material that infringes copyright or violates the privacy of others.

5. AI-generated content

Outputs that Yve produces in response to Your Content are yours to use, subject to:

We don't claim any rights in Yve's responses to you beyond what's necessary to deliver the service.

6. Subscriptions and billing

Plans

Yve offers a Free tier with usage limits and paid Pro tiers (Monthly, Semester, Annual) that lift those limits. Current pricing and the specific limits are shown in-app.

Billing

Pro subscriptions are billed in advance through Stripe. By starting a subscription, you authorize Stripe to charge your payment method on the recurring schedule of your chosen plan until you cancel.

Trial

The Pro Trial gives you Pro features for 3 days. A card is required to start the trial; if you don't cancel before the trial ends, your card will be charged for the plan you selected. You can cancel any time during the trial through the in-app billing portal.

Cancellation

You can cancel through the in-app billing portal at any time. Your Pro access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for; after that you revert to Free. We don't pro-rate refunds on voluntary cancellation.

Refunds

If Yve is materially broken for an extended period and you raise the issue with us, we will refund the affected portion of your subscription on request. Email hello@getyve.com with the specifics.

Price changes

We may change subscription prices for future billing periods with at least 30 days' notice. Price changes never apply to the period you've already paid for.

7. Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the in-app Profile screen, or by emailing hello@getyve.com. Deletion is permanent and removes your subjects, materials, chats, and notes (see the Privacy Policy for exact retention).

Deleting your account does not refund any unused portion of a Pro subscription unless covered by Section 6's refund policy.

8. Intellectual property

Yve, the Yve name, and the ✦ mark are our property. These Terms do not grant you any rights in Yve's branding or codebase beyond the right to use the service as a paying or free user.

9. Service availability

We aim to keep Yve running smoothly but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may need to take Yve offline for maintenance, security updates, or to respond to incidents. We'll communicate planned downtime in advance whenever practical.

10. Disclaimers

Yve is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express, implied, or statutory — including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

AI output may be wrong. Yve's responses are generated by statistical models and can contain mistakes, omissions, or hallucinations. You're responsible for verifying anything important before acting on it.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Yve will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages (including lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill) arising out of or relating to your use of Yve, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim relating to Yve is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) US$100.

These limits do not exclude any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (for example, liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or fraud).

12. Indemnity

You'll indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim arising out of your violation of these Terms or your misuse of Yve, except to the extent the claim arises from our own gross negligence or willful misconduct.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Yve if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. We'll give you a reasonable opportunity to export your data unless doing so is impractical (e.g. in case of fraud or serious abuse).

You may stop using Yve at any time, with or without reason.

14. Changes to these Terms

If we make material changes we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify you in-app or by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of Yve after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

If you're a consumer in the EU/UK, nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of your local consumer-protection laws or the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
